01-08 February 2022 – OPEN!
In our Lofoten Islands Photo Tour, we spend a week photographing the best landscape the islands have to offer. Norway’s Lofoten Islands are a near dreamlike landscape of rugged mountain peaks rising directly from the deep blue sea. Located 200 kilometers north of the arctic circle, Lofoten is a true land of the midnight sun, where it will circle the summer sky without setting – or not rise at all during the dark months of winter.
With the northern lights dancing over the islands from September to April and the temperate currents of the gulf stream softening the deep freeze of the Arctic, Lofoten has become a coveted winter photography destination in recent years. And beyond the landscape, the coast of Lofoten is lined with scenic fishing villages and their traditional Rorbu cabins, often perilously situated on the rocky shoreline.
TRAVEL PLAN ⇓
DAY 1 (1st February) – Arrival Day
We will arrive at Harstad Narvik airport and stay the night here. You will be collected from the airport once you arrive and checked into the hotel. In the evening we will have a group dinner where we can go over the plan for the next days as well as talk about all things “photography”.

DAYS 2 THRU 5 (2nd – 5th February)
And now the real fun begins! We will make the journey down to Leknes, which will be our base for the next 3 nights. The drive itself is a good 3.5-4 hours, but don’t worry, we will make many stops along the way to snap a few photos and have lunch! Trust me, there will much to photograph as we make our way to Leknes!
Once we arrive, we will check into our accommodation, which will be an experience in itself, as we’re actually staying in some of these iconic red cabins! Not only will we call these red cabins home for the next 3 nights, we will also be located right on the water with our own balconies, where we can unwind and take in the views that surround us!
This trip will not have a set agenda and will be planned on the go depending on the weather. Leknes is perfect place for this, as we are in arms reach to many different locations and arctic beaches. In the evenings we will also need to remain as flexible as possible to chase the northern lights! Clear skies come and go, so we need to be ready to strike when the time comes. To sum up our stay in Leknes, we will chase sunrises, sunsets, and hunt the northern lights by night! If we have cloudy / snowy weather, no worries, we will create moody and dramatic images!
On the 5th we will check out and move on to our next location, the “Reine” region, which is only about an hour or so drive away. We will once again be staying in iconic waterfront red cabins, which will be our new base for the next 2 nights. From here we have dinner and set off for an evening chasing the northern lights!

DAYS 6 & 7 (6th-7th February)
This part of the trip will also not have a set agenda, as it will be based off of the current weather. The region we’re staying in will provide us with flexibility, as we will have multiple locations available to us within a 10-15 min drive. The general plan will be (if the weather works out in our favor!) to be on location for a sunrise and sunset shoot on the 6th and again hunt for the northern lights in the evening. The 7th we will plan for another sunrise shoot before slowly making our way back to Harstad later in the day.
In this part of Lofoten, we have many locations to explore and photograph, including: Reine, Sakrisøy, and Hamnøy. Here will see many iconic fisherman huts and small villages located on different islands, surrounded by majestic snow capped mountains! It’s hard to imagine places like this actually exist and is truly humbling to not only be there, but to photograph!
The workshop will officially conclude on the evening of the 7th. We will once again be staying in Harstad, as it’s perfectly situated next to the airport.
