Every Journey is Different

One of the greatest advantages of a private multi-day tour is the freedom to create an itinerary around your interests rather than following a fixed schedule. Every journey through Slovenia is unique, adapting to the season, weather conditions and the landscapes that inspire you the most.

Some travellers dream of watching sunrise over the iconic shores of Lake Bled, as the first light reflects across the water and the famous island church slowly emerges from the morning mist. Others are drawn to the peaceful beauty of Lake Bohinj, surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Julian Alps, or to the emerald waters of the Soča River, one of Europe‘s most beautiful alpine rivers. For many, hidden waterfalls, scenic mountain roads and traditional alpine villages become the highlights of the journey.

Because every tour is completely private, there is no predefined route to follow. Some itineraries focus on the Julian Alps, exploring Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj, Vršič Pass, the Soča Valley and Triglav National Park. Others may venture further into Slovenia‘s diverse landscapes, discovering charming historic towns, vineyards, rolling hills, alpine forests and lesser-known viewpoints that reveal a different side of the country.

The flexibility of a private journey also allows every day to evolve naturally. Weather conditions in the mountains can change quickly, and instead of following a rigid itinerary, we adapt each day to make the most of the available light, visibility and seasonal opportunities. A cloudy morning may become the perfect time to explore waterfalls, forests or picturesque villages, while clear conditions often reward us with spectacular alpine panoramas, colourful sunsets or peaceful evenings beside crystal-clear lakes.

Every season reveals a different side of Slovenia. Spring brings vibrant green valleys, flowing waterfalls and colourful wildflowers. Summer offers long days, warm alpine lakes and excellent access to high mountain roads and hiking trails. Autumn transforms forests and vineyards into rich shades of gold and red, creating some of the year’s most rewarding landscapes. Even early winter brings a quieter atmosphere, with snow-dusted peaks contrasting beautifully against emerald rivers and frozen lakes.

For photographers, Slovenia offers extraordinary opportunities to capture everything from dramatic mountain scenery and alpine lakes to intimate woodland compositions, waterfalls and charming villages. At the same time, photography is never a requirement. Many guests simply wish to experience breathtaking landscapes, discover authentic local culture and enjoy the country’s relaxed atmosphere without any pressure or fixed schedule.

Depending on your interests, the journey may include scenic hikes, panoramic drives, peaceful lakes, spectacular waterfalls, alpine viewpoints, traditional mountain huts, local cuisine or hidden locations known mainly to locals. Some travellers enjoy active days exploring several destinations, while others prefer slowing down, spending more time in one place and simply appreciating the changing light and tranquil surroundings.

Rather than following a standard programme, every private journey becomes a collection of carefully chosen experiences, shaped by the conditions, your travel style and the moments that make Slovenia truly unforgettable. Whether you’re planning a short escape or a longer adventure across the country’s diverse landscapes, every itinerary is designed to offer the best possible experience while embracing the flexibility that makes private travel so rewarding.

Planning & FAQ

All experiences are guided by OutdoorPhotoDream and availability depends on the current schedule, weather conditions and existing bookings.

Private multi-day tours are custom designed around your preferred travel dates, accommodation availability and the best seasonal conditions.

While shorter itineraries can sometimes be arranged at relatively short notice, booking several weeks or months in advance is recommended, especially during the peak summer season and autumn foliage.

Early planning also provides greater flexibility when selecting accommodation, the locations you’d most like to include and the experiences that best match your interests.

Wear comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for the season, along with sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots. As your journey may include alpine landscapes, lakes, forests and scenic walks, we recommend bringing a waterproof jacket and a few extra layers to stay comfortable in changing conditions.

A detailed packing list and personalised recommendations will be provided before your journey, based on the season, planned activities and the latest weather forecast, ensuring you’re well prepared for every stage of the experience.

An easy to moderate level of fitness is recommended. Most itineraries include short to moderate walks through a variety of natural and cultural landscapes, including lakeshores, scenic viewpoints, forests, historic towns and, depending on the itinerary, mountain trails.

Hiking experience is generally not required. Routes, walking distances and daily activities are tailored to your interests, pace and comfort, ensuring an enjoyable and rewarding experience for every traveller.

The meeting point is arranged individually for each private tour. Depending on your travel plans, we can arrange pick-up from your accommodation, a nearby airport or another convenient meeting location, ensuring a smooth start to your journey.

Flexibility is one of the greatest advantages of a private journey. Throughout the tour, the itinerary can be adapted to weather conditions, seasonal opportunities and your personal interests, allowing every day to unfold in the best possible way.

All experiences are private and can be adapted to your interests, pace and preferences whenever possible.

To secure a date, a deposit may be required at the time of booking. Payment details will be provided after availability has been confirmed.

A couple of years back, I came across an image of Santa Maddalena, Val di Funes. Though at that point I had very little knowledge of photography, the striking contrast in the landscape, form and light of this place completely captivated me. And thus began my relentless research. I don’t drive, and it quickly dawned on me that navigating the Dolomites isn’t easy. As I searched through the work of local photographers from the area who shared my passion, I accidentally stumbled upon my biggest find of the last several years — Federico Antonello. A brilliant photographer, a thorough gentleman, well-spoken, empathetic, and yet gritty at the same time.We developed a great bond during the trip and I have never ceased to admire his intricate knowledge of the terrain and light conditions alike. I’d probably someday…

I warmly recommend Federico Antonello for any photo hike in the Dolomites, thanks to his great knowledge of photography conditions in the area, as well as his friendliness and willingness to help with specific requests. I went to the Dolomites in the summer of 2019 with my family, and a few weeks before the trip I asked Federico if he would be available for a few outings together while my family was doing something else. As soon as I contacted him, he started preparing a tailor-made programme based on my availability, my location during the stay, and the type of photos I wanted to take in the area. He also advised me on the gear to bring along and provided very precise information about the conditions for each hike (driving distance from my place, walking time, difficulty of the hike, etc.). I did two hikes with him, and each time he picked me…

Well!! This was my first mountain adventure for both hiking and photography, and I was a bit nervous. However, Fed never made me feel that way during the whole trip. A thorough gentleman and a good human being. He was more of a friend than a tour guide. He was very polite and always answered our questions. He knows the Dolomites inside out and took us to breathtaking spots at the right time of the day. The accommodations were homely and very cosy. He walked with us throughout the hikes and even went back and forth to help other fellow hikers despite of the ascent and descent. Very knowledgeable about photography and camera controls. I would definitely recommend Federico to all my friends, and he will be my guide for all my future photo trips to the Dolomites, Lofoten, Iceland and many more. Thanks Federico and wish…
