About The Area

Cinque Torri and Nuvolau are among the most scenic and historically fascinating destinations in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. Located near Cortina d’Ampezzo, this remarkable region is renowned for its iconic rock formations, panoramic viewpoints and exceptional mountain scenery.

The Cinque Torri are among the most recognisable landmarks in the Dolomites. Rising dramatically above the surrounding alpine meadows, these impressive rock towers have become a favourite destination for hikers, climbers, photographers and nature lovers from around the world.

The area also preserves an important part of Dolomite history. During the First World War, Cinque Torri served as a strategic military position, and visitors can still explore trenches, tunnels and open-air museums that provide a fascinating insight into life in the mountains during wartime.

Above the Cinque Torri rises Monte Nuvolau, home to one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Dolomites. From here, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramas stretching across some of the most famous peaks in the Alps, including Tofane, Averau, Pelmo, Civetta and Marmolada.

Recognised as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, Cinque Torri and Nuvolau offer a unique combination of natural beauty, alpine culture and mountain history. Whether you are a hiker, photographer or simply looking to experience some of the finest scenery in Italy, this region provides an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Dolomites.
